Eero Saarinen’s introduction of the Pedestal Series was a radical solution to what he saw as a “slum of legs” problem in chair and table design.  Over three years, from 1954 – 1957, Saarinen worked on the Pedestal Series trying to come up with a perfect balance between art and technology.  The optimization of the Saarinen table base was striking but difficult to attain due to the materials that were available at the time.  Though his first choice was plastic (as he was striving to use a single material), he subsequently used cast aluminum and fiberglass for the chairs. 

Our Saarinen tables are a masterful reproduction of the original Saarinen table from the 1950s. Absolute attention is paid to the workmanship of the top and base creating a modern classic table meant to last for years. The Saarinen table base is available in matte white or black, glossy white or black, or matte silver. The Saarinen table base is treated with a clear protective wax finish making it scratch resistant.
